Künstler der Region fördern – Moderne Kunst in historischen Gebäuden
Das Oberpfälzer KünstlerHaus wurde in den Jahren 1886 – 1888 als Wohnhaus erbaut und erhielt im Laufe seiner Geschichte den Hausnamen „Kebbel-Villa“.
Die Stadt Schwandorf erwarb das Anwesen, und nach umfassender Renovierung wandelte sich das stilvolle Wohnhaus zu einem Museum. Das regionale künstlerische Schaffen zu fördern und zu zeigen war und ist die Aufgabe.
Support for regional artists – Modern art in historic buildings
The Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus was built between 1886 – 1888 as a private residence and in the course of time it has acquired the name „Kebbel-Villa“ due to the family Kebbel that lived in it. The town of Schwandorf acquired the estate and after extensive renovations, the stylish building was turned into a museum. Since then the center´s purpose has been to support and display the creative activity of local artists.
The high and light rooms are perfect surroundings for exhibitions (about 300m²), but also for concerts, readings and theatre performances contribute to the varied program. Since ist opening in 1988 the „Kebbel-Villa“ has firmly established itself in the cultural life of the town of Schwandorf and the eastern part of Bavaria.
Offen für Kunst und Kultur – Modernes Haus im Park
Das Internationale KünstlerHaus bietet bildenden Künstlern, Schriftstellern und Komponisten aus aller Welt die Gelegenheit in ruhiger Umgebung zu wohnen und zu arbeiten.
Der „Förderverein Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus e. V“ hat damit eine wichtige kulturelle Intstitution erschaffen.
Open to culture and the arts – A modern residence in a park
The international artists´ residence (Künstlerhaus II) offers artists, writers and composers from all over the world the opportunity to live and work in quiet surroundings. With this project, the „Friends Association of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus e. V.“ have created an important cultural institution.

- gemeinsame Küche und Aufenthaltsraum
- zwei Arbeitsräume für bildende Künstler (Werkstatt für Druckgrafik, Lithografie und Radierung)
- Studio für einen Schriftsteller
- Studio für einen Komponisten
- in Planung: Ateliergebäude
Aufenthaltsdauer: ca. 6-8 Wochen
The Künstlerhaus II offers:
- 4 apartments with bathrooms
- communal kitchen and living room
- 2 studios for creative artists (print shop für lithography and etching)
- 1 studio for a writer
- 1 studio for a composer
- at the planning stage: building with several studios
